Abstract

The chimney intake cowl for a fireplace has a first deflector (14) at the bottom, for joining onto the rear face of the fireplace and sloping forward towards the top, so as to deflect the fumes forward. A second deflector (15) at the top slopes in the opposite direction, diverting the fumes rearwards again. This divides the inside of the cowl into a rear upwards passage for the fumes, and a front downwards on for fresh air to the fireplace.
