Abstract

Method of insulating a tank for storing fluids at temps. below O degree C consists of surrounding the tank with a screen-insulation complex, comprising a combination of welded sheets and mineral wool. A space is created between the complex and the tank, wide enough for access by people for inspection and maintenance. The method satisfies the strictest criteria of fire resistance and of fluid-tightness, allows access and checking of the tank, eliminates corrosion risks and allows detection and repair of leaks.
