Abstract

The reinforcing ends for a paper cylinder are made up of a plug fitting inside the core (19, 20) of the composite cylinder hub. The reinforcing end has a flange which rests upon the end of the cylinder and a plug which enters the cylinder. The plug has a tapered end (17) to ease its entry into the core. The plug incorporates equally spaced ridges (14) arranged longitudinally along the plug and coming into contact with the bore of the cylinder. The ridges maintain a tight fit in the bore. Conical studs (22) equally spaced around the flange of the plug hold it centrally in the core.
