Abstract

Tools for injection moulding composite articles involving regions made of different materials comprises split tool bodies which define one cavity region when closed and a complementary cavity region when slightly parted. The cavity boundaries for the second material are limited by either the walls of tool parting lines parallel to the axis of tool parting or by use of a sliding block. Used for the mfr. of articles with zones of e.g. contrasting colour, stiffness, etc., opt. so that part of the first material slot may subsequently be enveloped by the second slot. Simpler than use of tools using alternative halves to define the two cavities.
