Abstract

The first stage in stringing a tennis racket is to thread individual string elements through appropriate holes in the racket frame till the strings make up a lattice across the frame. Then each string is attached to the frame and tightened against to form the lattice into an effective playing surface. The stringing is carried out in such a way that each string element has its own hole and there is no contact between different parts of the string except in the lattice of the main body. Each string element can be replaced without disturbing the others.
