Abstract
The wedge block for use by a climber consists of a truncated pyramidal body (1) with apertures to receive a wire or ring. The body has grooves in its sides to slidably receive further tapered blocks (2). Alternatively, the body may have dovetail section ribs which slidably receive the further blocks, these being locked in position by screws. Using this design, the assembly can easily be wedged in a crevice, and a rope looped around the wire or ring.
