Abstract
The hollow structural members of a small open boat are made from straight or curved lengts of thermoplastic pipe blanked off into intrinsically watertight compartments. The components may be of polyolefin, PVC pipe or sheet, fusion or solvent welded into an integral structure. Ancillary components such as seats, transoms, rubbing strakes, floats etc. may also be made of similar materials. Typically the structure has a 'U' profile with >=1 longitudinal and transverse tube of lesser cross-section. It is stronger than inflatable hulls made of rubberised fabric, for applications where collapsibility is not necessary.
