Abstract
The collector is contained in a rectangular frame (1) which is open at the top and made of a thin but rigid material such as sheet metal or plastics. It is lined on the inside with insulating material. The lined frame forms a mould for a material such as concrete (4) which is cast in it. The mould remains as a frame and is not removed after the casting process is complete. A coil of tube (5) is embedded in the casting as the material is poured. A liquid circulating through this collects the heat absorbed by the cast material (4) in the frame.
