Abstract

The lining comprises a colourless synthetic resin in the bulk of which is a reinforcement comprising strands of (in)organic yarns. The yarns are transparent or translucent and UV resistant and are uniformly distributed in the resin. They are 5-20 mu in dia. and 1.5 mm in length. The resin is pref. an acrylic resin and the fibres are pref. glass fibres which have been pretreated with a wetting agent to facilitate their swelling and the penetration of the resin between the yarns. The lining is applied by spraying a mixt. of the resin and the prewetted fibres. The process is quicker than prior art. methods and the lining has better mechanical strength than whe using a fabric as reinforcing agent. It also has better appearance as the fibres are not visible from a distance.
