Abstract

The collapsible chair is of a tubular framed construction with fabric panels(2, 6) and twin rectangular vertical lateral frames(1, 7) separated by scissor frames(3, 4) to the front and rear. The lateral frames have a heel(8) which promotes stability and maintains an interval between the back of the chair and a wall. The heel(8) is formed by curving the rear extremity of the bottom members(7) through say 120 deg. upward and then reverse curving it back to the vertical(1). A pivoting strap(9) connects the tops of the scissor frames to each vertical member(1), and the scissor frames may additionally incorporate projecting studs(10). The studs(10) limit the movement of the straps(9) to stabilise the chair when the scissor frames(3, 4) are fully extended.
