Abstract

Thermostat for general heating applications, is driven from a sprung bimetallic strip and uses a design which simplifies mfr. and assembly and provides a low cost unit. The thermostat unit is mounted on a rectangular metal base (1) carrying the contact group of the switch proper (4a) towards one end with its operating shaft (6) vertical to the board. The bimetallic strip (5) is trapped at each end by two slightly cut-away pillars (2, 3) and is folded into a right angled inverted 'U' at the switch shaft point, the snap action of the switch driving the shaft.
