Abstract

The machine cuts a roll of paper in two, and comprises a reciprocating knife working in a frame with a support in the latter for the roll. The support forms a face against which the flat end of the roll is placed, and below this and at right angles to it is a stop, separate from it, sustaining the roll during the cutting operation. The drive moves the knife to and fro parallel to the face. The face can be horizontal, and in two parts, forming a groove between them in which an edge of the knife works. It can be formed by the upper faces of two profiled strips, between which the groove runs.
