Abstract
The detection of a coordinate, i.e. any organic compound for which a natural receptor exists or can be prepared, or of an anti-coordinate, is effected as follows. A sample of the material under test is combined, in an aq. medium with (a) a coordinate analogue-fluorescent combination, the coordinate analogue being specifically recognised by the anticoordinate, and the coordinate and the fluorescent compound being attached sufficiently tightly by a bonding group that the simultaneous bonding of the anticoordinate and the fluorescent antibody undergoes tearic hindrance, (b) an anti-coordinate for the determination of the coordinate, and (c) an extinguisher combined with an antifluorescent agent, and the intensity of the fluorescence emitted by the medium at >=1 wavelength is compared with a control contg. a known quantity of the coordinate and anti-coordinate. Used in qualitative and quantitative determinations of alkaloids, synthetic medicaments, steroids, vitamins, sugars, prostaglandins, antibiotics, and pesticides. Interference from other materials present in the substance under test is minimised.
