Abstract
An exhaust gas detector for a motor vehicle contains a metallic oxide deposited on a ceramic layer using thick film technology. Electrical feedback from the sensitive element is used to control fuel air mixture ratio for the engine. An exhaust gas detector (1) is mounted in a motor vehicle exhaust pipe (3). The sensitive element comprises a layer of metallic oxide (6) deposited on a ceramic substrate (5). A thermistor acts as a temp. control element and is also deposited on a face of the substrate. Electrical connections (6b) permit connection of external circuits to the detector. A porous cover (9) provides mechanical protection.
