Abstract

The jointing system may be used between lengths of plastic drainage pipe and utilises a sleeve (10) which slides over the assembled joint. The sleeve fits over the ends of the two pipes (1, 2) and a longitudinally split filler tube (6), and the mating surfaces of the pipe-ends (1a, 2a) and the tube are contoured to provide longitudinal interlock at the joint. The two pipes may have a bore of constant dia. and thicken out at their ends to form a terminal lengths (1a, 2a) of greater external dia. Inclined shoulders (1b, 2b) may be provided at the changes in external dia. and the thickened ends may accommodate tapered spigots (1c) and sockets (2c). The spigot (1c) may include a circumferential groove (3) for a compression seal (4).
