Abstract

A function generator is designed to provide a voltage output following a required law. The generator is based on the use of a digital to analogue convertor working in a variable cyclic manner. A D.C. output is provided which is a function of the digital input the output being equal to 1/T integral TO Vdt = Vo. Ti/T = Vo. KNi/KN = Vo. Ni/N = VNi, where V = the basic function, K = the constant of proportionality, Ti = the time between cycles, and N = the number of pulses per cycle. A passive memory receiving a counter output resets to zero at the end of each cycle and controls a second digital to analogue convertor whose output is chopped and filtered before feeding the first convertor.
