Abstract

The engine torque is transferred to the road wheels by a sprung coupling and a continuously variable gear. Transducers work with the torque transfer systems and the accelerator pedal to produce signal indicating angle. Servo units work with the continuously variable gear box to regulate the torque transferred by the gear to the road wheels. The system contains an electronic regulator to receive signals from a manual gear selector switch to produce an output signal to regulate the engine torque and corresponding output signals to regulate the gear box torque output.
