Abstract

quinazoline derivs. of formula (I) and their acid addn. salts are new: In (I) n=3 or 4; X is CO or its derivs., CHOH or its derivs., or -CH(C6H5)-, suitable derivs. of CO being oximes, acetals, and esp. , and suitable derivs. of CHOH being esters, ethers, alkoxyethers, alkoxyethers, and esp., -CH(OR- or -cH(OCmH2m-OR), R is 1-3C alkyl and 7 = 1-3. (I) are antihypertensives, useful for essential, peripheral, and secondary hypertension. A typical cpd., N-(4-amino-6,7-dimethoxy-2-quinazoyl)-N-methyl-4-(2-phenyl 1,3-dioxalan-2-yl) n-butylamine, in an example is prepd. by refluxing 4-amino-2-chloro -6,7-dimethoxy quinazoline and N-methyl-4-(2-phenyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl) -4-n-butylamine in isoamy) alcohol.
