Abstract

The overhead conveyor comprises a rail-guided trolley (5) with a hoist (6) and is for use in feeding cement to a hopper (2). A bag of cement (9) is suspended (8) from the hoise and the trolley moves linearly to a position above the inlet to the hopper. The bag is then allowed to descend under gravity and is burst by a jagged projection (22) in the hopper inlet. The contents of the bag then empty into the hopper. The trolley is displaced by a motor powered pulley and cable system, and a similar system operates the hoist. The inlet to the hopper may be circular and may incorporate a central vertical blade projection.
