Abstract

The piezoelectric pushbutton-type switch has a laminar element (4). The laminar element consists of a passive foil (11) which may be made of metal or plastics material, and there is a piezoelectric foil (5) arranged so that the slightest bending causes a voltage to appear at the contacts (6, 7, 9). the laminar structure is enclosed by a flexible cover. The advantage lies in the switch structure being very flat and it is therefore suitable for use in compact keyboards for miniature calculators.
