Abstract

New pesticidal agents with low dermal toxicity towards mammals contain (a) ca 5-20 wt.% of a pesticide of the formula (C2H5O)2P(S)-S-CH2-S-R (I) (where R is C2H5 or -C(CH3)3); (b) shellac in an amt. such as to give a (I): shellac ratio of 1:1 to 3:1 w/w; (c) ca 4-6 wt.% ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, tetraethylene glycol, polyethylene glycol of molecular wt. 6000 and/or propylene glycol as a glycol-type deactivating agent; and (d) clay, pumice, brick dust, talc, volcanic ash, sand, li limestone dust and/or corncob grist, as solid inert carrier, making up the remainder. Granular formulations of (I) coated with shellac reduce toxicity due to percutaneous absorption about 15-fold without affecting pesticidal action.
