Abstract

An off-shore platform, partic. for great depths, comprises several sections of hollow metal columns placed one on another and connected by intermediate enclosures. The bottom section widens towards the base anchored on the sea-bed. The columns of the bottom section are polygonal, partic. square, in section and they are welded to the base at its four corners. Compared to existing platforms, the platform is more rigid, the natural vibration period is less, bending moments are less, the structure is simpler, the base is better utilised and there is a greater possibility of installation at great heights on sea beds of great depths.
