Abstract

In an installation for drying organic waste such as manure, stable litter etc. to 60%, pref. 50%, moisture content. The waste is dried on a heated bed plate covered with a removal tunnel. The bed plate receives heat from embedded pipes conveying a heated fluid, pref. water at 40 degrees-60 degrees C. Simultaneously, hot dry air is blown through the tunnel, pref. from an air heater to which heat is transferred by the same water circuit supplying the bed plate pipes. The installation pref. comprises two bed plates piped in parallel and sharing a common, removable tunnel. Each bedplate is heated alternately and the air heater and tunnel heated continuously. Water is pref. heated by a solar energy collector. Very high thermal efficiency provides an inexpensive and economically attractive installation for this pre-dehydration process.
