Abstract

The valve has a cylinder (1) which carries a piston (5). The piston is connected by a rod to the diaphragm (3). The diaphragm is held around its edge in a casing (4) which is perforated and open to outside pressure. The piston has two holes (6, 7) in its base and a hole (8) in the wall. This hole connects with the exit pipe (2) in the side of the cylinder wall. The valve is connected to the submerged system by the connection (9). As the water pressure increases on the system and the diaphragm the latter flexes and moves the piston so that the hole (8) lines up with the exit hole and air is released.
