Abstract

An electro-optic fluid density monitor is located in a reservoir (32). An air tight container (20) presents an external surface of an elongate lens (28) to the reservoir interior. Fibre optic elements (22) transmit light to the interior of the lens element (30) which either escapes into the fluid or is totally internally reflected. Internally reflected light is passed out of the reservoir along secondary fibre optic elements (24) to optic electronic transducers which provide signals controlling a display of fluid density information.
