Abstract

The image forming method includes formation of a non-uniform charge design in an image configuration on a surface and placing the design in contact with a finely divided marking material. The non uniform charge design has a periodicity of about 25 to 175 microns. The image surface is insulating and is covered with a paper dielectric. The formation stage of a non uniform charged design on the insulating surface (10) includes a stage in which a stylus (20) is displaced over the surface. An alternatively positive and negative charge is applied to the stylus (20) when it is in a position adjacent to a zone of the insulating surface to be marked. Thus a non uniform charge is placed on the part of the surface (10) to be marked.
