Abstract

The antibiotic C-15003 is a valuable fungicidal agent, antiprotozoal agent and cytostatic. It corresponds to the formula: in which R represents the radical -COCH(CH3)2, -COCH2CH2CH3 or -COCH2CH(CH3)2. The preparation is effected by cultivating a microorganism of the genus Nocardia. The radical R can be eliminated by reductive hydrolysis, thus giving rise to Maytansinol.
