Abstract

A flying machine which is powered by human muscle is built with a framework of aluminium tubes. The machine is equipped with four propellers mounted on vertical shafts in coaxial pairs. The blades of the propellers are of relatively thick aerofoil section and the axis of each blade follows a parabolic curve. The propellers of each coaxial pair rotate in opposite directions and the propellers lying in the same plane also rotate in opposite directions. The machine is controlled in flight by the pilot changing the orientation of the axes of the propellers. It is considered that such a machine could be used for sport.
