Abstract
Purificn. of rare gases by absorption of the impurities on metals with an absorbent effect involves passing the gas to be purified over pref. cylindrical elements consisting of a refractory gauze, pref. of stainless steel or copper, coated with a metal with absorbent effect which is pref. Sr, Ca or Mg, and partic. Li or Ba. The metal can contain additives of Na, K, Rb or Cs. The process is used partic. to remove traces of nitrogen contained in the rare gases. It can also be used to remove traces of O2, CO2, CO and hydrocarbons.
