Abstract
The wound paper capacitor comprises alternate layers of aluminium tape (10) and dielectric paper (12) of suitable thickness. Both tape windings are the same width but are displaced by a few millimeters to provide an overlap. The wound capacitor is dried under vacuum and impregnated under pressure to form a solid component. Two drillings are than made into the hardened body. Each hole is bored vertically into the capacitor near each end (13) so that it penetrates the alternate electrode coatings (10, 11). Each hole is of such depth that it passes through the maximum number of aluminium and paper layers. Two contact pins or pegs with pointed tinned ends (15) and diameter slightly larger than the drilled holes, are forced into the holes. The length of each pin is such that each projects from the casing by a few millimeters when fully inserted.
