Abstract
The generator is supported on a tripod stand which can be fixed to the roof of a building. It has a vertical shaft which carries a horizontal impeller. The impeller has radial arms each of which carries a semi-spherical cup on its end. The rotor of an electrical generator is attached to the shaft, below the level of the impeller. The generator is a low speed one with permanent magnets producing the field. The speed is regulated by an electromagnetic brake imposing a resistance against the turning moment of the wind. Alternatively the field magnets can be displaced axially to vary the effective field.
