Abstract

The gas turbine combustor ensures optimum cooling of its metal parts and uses a floating ceramic tube for the zone of max. temp. to enhance the service life. It is applicable to units with a heat exchanger where a portion of the air from the compressor is diverted for cooling. The flame tube (2) forms a ring chamber (3) with the outside housing, for admitting preheated air from the compressor and exchanger. The head (7) of the tube is set in the plenum chamber (8) with its fuel injecting nozzle (6) receiving the cooled air via a port (9). The flame tube is linked to the intermediate section by the floating ceramic tube protected by refractory pads.
