Abstract

When installing needle rooler bearings which run directly on a shaft there is a risk of a needle roller falling out of the housing. This risk can be eliminated by using a needle roller housing (1) with an integrally formed end cap (3). The needle rollers (5) are retained in their housing (1) by means of a plug (19) preferably of plastic. When the complete bearing is installed in the bore (22) the shaft (25) is pressed against the plug (19) and pushes it into the space (14) in the end cap so that the needel rollers are always supported either by the plug (19) or the shaft (25). In the cases where the shaft (25) passes right through the bearing, a plug with a central holes can be used.
