Abstract

The direction-alternating cable twister produces an electric cable with different regions of the strands twisted in opposite directions. It has its drive system mounted coaxially with its twisting device on a hollow shaft through which the wires being twisted pass. The drive system consists of two same-direction motors (9, 10) which are located each side of the twisting device (1). This arrangement allows rapid direction reversal and is simple and subject to relatively little wear. The cable (11) oasses through the hollow centres of both the motors.
