Abstract

To enable the inclinometer to function properly, there are two devices, one emitting radiation (16, 17) and the other receiving radiation (14, 15). These two devices are arranged so that a change in the liquid level caused by moving the vessel (11) in relation to a given plane leads to a change in the radiation absorbed by the receiving device. This change in radiation is measured. The two radiation devices can be arranged on opposite sides or ends of the vessel containing the liquid or gas or they can be placed above or below surface of the liquid or gas. the liquid or gas surface can serve to vary the radiation reflected to the receiving device.
