Abstract

The ski brake comprises a U-shaped stirrup hinging by its arms on a spindle mounted on the ski at right angles to the lengthwise plane of the ski. It ensures that the flat cross-member is above it and clamped below the heel of the wearer's boot in opposition to a spring, with the stirrup arms in the plane of the ski. The blade-type spring (15) is fixed at one (16) of its ends to the top face (12a) of the ski (12), and slides in the stirrup (1) at its other end in the plane of the stirrup cross-member (2). It can fit in a recess (20) formed in the cross-member, and can be generally V-shaped, one flat arm bearing against the ski, while the other is flat (19) at the other end and inclined to the plane of the ski.
