Abstract

The fireplace has a base which is assembled from bottom piece and upper pieces (1, 2). The bottom piece has a recess for the ash pit. The upper piece fits on dowels attached to the bottom piece. A location plate (5) is fixed to the top of the upper piece (2) of the base. The location plate carries two vertical studs (6) on each side of the base. The blocks (7, 10) from which the sides are built up have holes which slide over the studs. The top corner piece covers the ends of the studs when the fireplace is completed. The chimney breast seats on top of the top corner piece.
