Abstract

L'invention décrit une enveloppe (ou gaine) qui convient pour recouvrir une électrode essentiellement rectangulaire pour une cellule d'électrolyse du type à diaphragme, ainsi que le procédé pour sa fabrication. L'enveloppe comprend une extrémité fermée, une extrémité ouverte et deux côtés fermés, au moins l'un des côtés fermés ayant une patte voisine de l'extrémité ouverte. L'enveloppe est formée d'une matière souple pliée ou collée pour obtenir une extrémité fermée puis collée pour former deux côtés clos. Le joint de collage le long de la majeure partie des bords est linéaire et ce joint, contigu, forme un angle (avec le bord linéaire) le long du bord de la patte. Les pattes, que l'on peut torsader ou tourner pour avoir une surface plate, permettent la fermeture facile le long des bords supérieur et inférieur pour constituer, pour des cellules d'électrolyse à diaphragme, des séparateurs étanches, pouvant se dilater ou se contracter sans contraintes mécaniques nuisibles.
