Abstract

Several very viscous liq. prods. may be mulled by a truncated cone section mixing head immersed in the mixt. and rotated at very high speed. The cone section has cylindrical holes bored through it from the inside. Liqs. entering the holes are violently ejected from the holes by the centrifugal forces. The ejected prods. create a continuous flow through the holes which instigates a pressure, the value of which depends on the speed of rotation. The pressure obtd. at the periphery is homogeneous. Used for mixing several liqs., even highly viscous liqs. in e.g. mulling of paints, household or industrial liqs. mulling of mud in boring installations, etc. Gives a very homogeneous product and avoids cavitation.
