Abstract

The close quarter defence device for a tank, has a discharge chamber(10), cylindrical in shape, fitted to a wall of the tank. It is secured by fixing lugs(12), bolts and nuts. Another cylindrical envelope(14) is lightly forced in. The envelope has a domed top(16) and a traverse flange(18) encloses the explosive(20). Between the top(16) and the explosive is a layer of metal balls(22). the envelope(14) is held by pins(24) in holes. At the centre of the transverse flange(18) is a recess(26) for the primer(28). There are also a detonator(30) and a pull type fuse(32) controlled by a wire(34). the charge(38) is fired electrically.
