Abstract

A non-acid lubricant contains (a) a lubricating oil, and an additive combination of (b) an antioxidant of the phenol and/or amine type, and (c) a dicarboxylic acid ester of formula ROOC-(CH2)n - S - (CH2)m - COOR, where R is a hydrocarbon residue and n and m = 1-6. The oil may be mineral orsynthetic. The phenolic antioxidant may be 2, 6-di-tert. butyl-4-methylphenol or 2, 2'-methylene-bis-(6-(1-methyk cyclohexyl)-p-cresol) (I). The amine antioxidant may be phenyl-beta-naphthylamine, triphenylamine, 3-aminopyridine or 2,2'-dipyridyl-amine. Di-tridecyl thiodipropionate (II) is claimed as the ester.
