Abstract
Liq. is continuously supplied to a feed hopper and chute to a turbine mixer. Powder is also continuously supplied by gravity to this hopper and chute. The powder and liq. enter the first turbine in its centre and this turbine acts as a 'wetting' turbine. The dispersion leaves this first turbine by gravity, through a chute in which there is a mesh. This chute feeds another hopper that feeds from its lower end to the lateral centre of another turbine known as 'homogenisation' turbine. There may be other intermediary turbines before the 'homogenisation' turbine. The final dispersion leaves the homogenisation turbine, by gravity, through a chute contg. a fine mesh. In the chutes at the discharge of the wetting or intermediary turbines the mesh may be coarse. As the mixt. passes from turbine to turbine the dia. of the axial inlet and possibly the feeding chute decreases. In addition the axes of rotation of the turbines are at an angle of 10-20 degrees to the horizontal. Each turbine may be drive at a different speed. Used for mixing liqs. and fine powders. Extra liq. or powder, or other components can be added to the intermediate stages.
