Abstract

The demountable rotary cutting head (14) is for use on a suction dredger, is of a separately demountable two-piece construction. The head (14) attaches to a drive-shaft and comprises an assembly of a hub-block (17) and a cutting ring (19). The arrangement obviates the necessity of removing the whole assembly for maintenance and replacement of cutters. The hub-block comprises a sleeve with a bore (18) which is force fitted onto the end of the drive-shaft, and may have a circumferential rebated shoulder (24) which receives the leading edge (25) of the cutting ring (19). The ring is attached by bolts (26) parallel to and equally disposed about the shaft axis and may have a cover (35) and at least one cutting blade (15).
