Invention concernant la chimie organique. Procédé pour la séparation d'acides alkylsulfoniques à chaîne alkylique linéaire à partir de produits bruts de sulfoxydation de paraffines linéaires ayant de 10 à 20 atomes de carbone par molécule, ces produits bruts contenant les acides alkylsulfoniques, de l'acide sulfurique, de l'eau et, éventuellement, des paraffines linéaires, caractérisé en ce qu'on met en contact le produit brut de sulfoxydation avec au moins un éther aliphatique, non cyclique, ayant une température d'ébullition inférieure à 150 degrés C, pour provoquer la séparation d'une phase lourde constituée essentiellement par de l'acide sulfurique aqueux, et d'une phase légère aqueuse organique contenant les acides alkylsulfoniques, l'éther et les paraffines linéaires éventuelles, on sépare les deux phases et on récupère les acides alkylsufoniques à partir de la phase aqueuse organique.
