Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé de régénération de saumures contenant des sulfites et/ou des sulfates de sodium en produisant du dioxyde de soufre et du carbonate de sodium ou du sulfite de sodium Le procédé consiste à acidifier les saumures au moyen de bisulfate de sodium et de bisulfate d'ammonium pour produire du dioxyde de soufre et à traiter la solution résiduelle du gaz carbonique et de l'ammoniac pour obtenir du bicarbonate de sodium que l'on chauffe pour produire du carbonate de sodium ou que l'on met en contact avec une partie de la saumure à régénérer pour obtenir du sulfite de sodium. Le procédé est applicable au traitement de saumures provenant d'usines à acide sulfurique ou de l'absorption des oxydes de soufre contenus dans les fumées émanant de centrales thermiques par exemple.
