Abstract

The "stile" hinge for furniture, adjusts to modify the alignment of the door both vertically and laterally, and has demountable collars (c) which mask the adjusting screws. The adjusting screws (V) are accessible from the exterior. The hinge fittings may comprise three round section bars (A, 6, A) which are installed vertically and in axial alignment. The central bar (6) may fix to the door, the top and bottom bars (A) may fix to the static panel, and axle pins or bushes (5) project from the central bar (6) to enter cylindrical sockets in the outer bars (A). The central bar (6) may be tubular with the axle pins incorporated on end caps (B) and four screws (V) may be used to fix the assembly. A screw traverses each outer bar (A) and each cap (B) to anchor ferrules, and the head of each screw is covered by a clip-on collar (C). The screws (V) act as both fixing and adjusting screws and may be adjusted by screw driver or spanner. The collars (C) may be notched to lock the screw (V) against rotation.
