Abstract

Secondary amides of dichloroacetic acid of the formula I are prepared by dichloroacetylating appropriate secondary amines. The secondary amines are reacted with a dichloroacetic ester in the presence of a metal alcoholate. The symbols in the formula I have the meaning given in Patent Claim 1. In accordance with the invention, the process is carried out under very mild conditions. The end products are obtained in high yield and at high purity after a short reaction time.
