Abstract

The relay comprises an axial cylinder contg. a low-power fuse with a central circular cavity and an axial chamber contg. the explosive charge. This chamber is symmetrical around the axis and forms the link between the fuse and the principal charge. The chamber is narrow at the top and wide at the bottom, the angles of the walls varying at different levels. The chamber may comprise several sections, each the shape of a truncated cone. The angle of the walls of each section are different and the sections join together to form one chamber. Alternatively the chamber may consist of one section shaped like a truncated cone and a second section with a continually but not constantly reducing dia. The equipment provides the necessary intensification of power between the fuse and the principal charge at the same time, eliminating many of the problems encountered with previous low energy fuses.
