Abstract
The rubbish is passed down an inclined screen which allows screenings to pass through while oversize lumps are carried over the end of the screen. The screenings are delivered by gravity from the lower end of a sloping chute. Inertia projects each particle beyond the end of the chute by a distance proportional to the mass of the particle. This classifies the screenings by mass in relation to distance from the vertical plane in which the end of the chute lies. The screenings which are projected from the chute pref. pass through a horizontal air stream which provides pneumatic sepn. to supplement the gravity inertia. Used for refining household rubbish to produce an agricultural compost while simultaneously reducing the amount of waste. Simple, inexpensive installation which combines pneumatic with inertial sepn. to refine at least a fraction of the original waste for immediate use as agricultural compost is provided.
