Ce procédé se caractérise en ce que dans les dispositifs de flottation à aspiration propre d'air ainsi que dans ceux à refoulement forcé d'air, la pulpe prétraitée par des réactifs de flottation, d'une densité ayant une valeur allant jusqu'à deux fois la normale, est soumise à la flottation au moyen d'un flux pulsant d'air obtenu en alternant des périodes d'amenée de quantité normale d'air avec des périodes d'amenée d'air dont la quantité varie de 0 à 90 % de la quantité normale. c. Purification des minerais.
